A fixed or detachable gripper ropeway, also known as a crane, telpher, ski lift, or funicular railway, is a vehicle designed to transport passengers or goods up and down hills on rugged terrains. This innovative transportation system utilizes suspended cables to support and tow passenger cabins or goods vehicles. Brackets are strategically placed along the ropeway, including at the stations, to provide support for the cables. Ropeways with cabins are predominantly found in ski areas.

A ropeway consists of three main components: the driving station, ropeway lines, and the detour station.

The driving station, typically located at the upper station, is equipped with suspension driving devices, a large driving wheel, hydraulic tensioning facilities, auxiliary driving facilities, a control system, and frequency conversion electrical appliances. Low voltage distribution and control rooms, as well as a diesel generator room, are situated on both sides of the station.

The detour station, positioned as the lower station, includes a horizontal detour wheel. Additionally, auxiliary rooms such as a ticket booth, office, and maintenance tool room are present in close proximity to the station.

Passengers purchasing tickets at the lower station are directed to the designated waiting area. As the cabin approaches, passengers enter the cabin in an organized manner. The station attendant then closes and locks the cabin door, and the passengers are smoothly transported along the ropeway lines to the upper station. Upon arrival, the station attendant opens the cabin door, allowing passengers to disembark. The same procedure applies to passengers who have purchased tickets from the upper station.

The operation of the ropeway is fully automated, with station service staff responsible for only opening and closing the doors and assisting passengers during boarding and disembarkation. The ropeway operates continuously, following the aforementioned procedures, and efficiently fulfills the designated transportation requirements.
